Best of State is Utah's peer-judged recognition of excellence across the arts, education, sports, heritage, and community life. These medals mark work that helps visitors and residents understand the people, places, and living culture of the Highway 89 corridor.

The Heritage Area

Utah Best of State recognized the Mormon Pioneer National Heritage Area for its work preserving and sharing the settlement story of central and southern Utah along U.S. Highway 89 and the scenic byways that branch from it.

Our television series earned Best of State honors for journeys down U.S. Highway 89 that bring together history, mystery, heritage, and natural beauty. Episodes air on Utah Education Network channels and cable stations in many states, and are used in Utah history classrooms.

Cleone Peterson Eccles Equestrian Center

The center in Mt. Pleasant, home to ConToy Arena and Skyline Eventing Park, was named Best of State in Equestrian Sports. It is a leading cross-country and eventing facility in Utah, with all-weather rings, more than 200 horse stalls, and a challenging course.
